Applause, cheers and eventually laughter filled the Entertainment Centre on Monday afternoon as Chris Kiely made his way through the audience to accept the keys to the Porsche he was set to drive for the next 12 months.
Applause, because to win the Cobra Champions Competition with the Porsche as 1st prize, Chris had to work exceptionally hard; Cheers, because - well come on – it was a PORSCHE!!! and laughter... because the crowd just found out Chris can’t actually drive...
Not one to let a valuable reward be lost, a generous Chris Niarchos offered the dollar value of the prize in cash instead... What an offer! And what a decision!... the money or the car?
But Chris Kiely’s enviable decision was only one element of yet another brilliantly successful Rally.
We were thrust into the day by an intense performance from drum group SYNERGY. Country Head, Shane Ward, then treated us to some inspirational figures of achievement; it was a proud moment to hear we do approximately 1.5 Million interactions in Australia and Australia/NZ Rally 2010 - The money or the Porsche New Zealand for our clients every month – 1.5 Million!!!
We really are a force to be reckoned with.
Later, I recall salivating as the Growth Incentive Payments were handed out – an unprecedented $6 Million in total – I couldn’t believe the sheer amount of money made over the past 12 months.
And when a security guard (looking like a CIA operative) came in with a briefcase full of cash, I could barely hold myself back. But alas, I couldn’t find a blunt, heavy object in time.
Paul Burkett helped
bring sexy back during his presentation, and was backed up
by footage of American President, Barack Obama... Now,
having been personally involved with the setup of
EnergyChoice Australia (Cobra’s new insulation
business), I understood that insulation was a great
initiative, but I was simply unaware of how downright sexy
it was.
See a snippet of Obama’s speech from Paul’s
presentation below...
Throughout the day, Australia/NZ Rally 2010 - The money or the Porsche the scale and success of the group was clear. Literately hundreds of awards were presented over the course of the event. In addition to the cold hard cash, the Porsche and the GIP cheques, 13 Marketing Company Managing directors won trips for two to New York and 17 ICs were the happy recipients of brand new 42” LCD TVs.
And the 2 major awards of the day? Well, the prestigious New Marketing Company of the Year award went to Daniel Tonkin’s STM International. And the coveted Marketing Company of the Year 2010 went to the very deserving Bertrand Lesbros and his company, XL Marketing. XL Marketing's strong performance in the Gold Coast over the past 12 months has seen many other Managing Directors taking note of the company’s unique atmosphere.
Overall, it was a truly fantastic celebration. A big thank you and congratulations to all those behind the scenes who organised such an exhilarating event.
But, back to the all important question, the Porsche or the money? ... What would you choose?
